Updates on the European Drinking Water Directive (DWD)

The Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Council, known as the Drinking Water Directive (DWD), sets new standards for the quality of water intended for human consumption. To ensure its implementation, the directive has provided for the publication of a series of delegated acts, which were published last April in the EU Official Journal. These acts stipulate that from December 31, 2026, only materials compliant with the EU positive list may be used for contact with drinking water.
